Rule out neurologic: Problem which can impair sphincter, bladder and bowel function. Enuresis alone usually does not require behavior therapy. Encopresis, in the absence of any neurologic deficit may well benefit from behavior therapy. Thus most children with combined enuresis & encopresis usually require some form of behavior therapy.
