Please explain what happens to diseased organs when a person dies?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Can you clarify?: They die with the owner, stopping working and beginning to decompose. The rate of cell death varies -- brain neurons are usually dead at or minutes after the heart stops beating effectively, but skin and bone can have live cells for many hours. They may be recognizable for days or even years after decomposition has set in even if unbalmed. Pathologists may preserve specimens if autopsy is done.
