Recognize faces: yes there are specific areas in the brain that do this. Altzheimer's for example. Stoke for another. Discuss with your Dr.

Facial recognition: There are multiple neurologic conditions that can specifically cause difficulty recognizing faces. It could range from a mild annoyance to a severe social problem. There are specific neuropsychological tests which can measure this. If you are concerned, see a neurologist. Good luck.
