Can someone tell me if retinitis pigmentosa is a genetic disorder?

RP is genetic: Retinitis pigmentosa (rp) is a group of inherited conditions. There are close to 100 genes known to cause rp. Some are inherited from an affected parent (dominant). Some from healthy parents who are rp carriers (recessive). There are other inheritance types too. Risk of it happening in children depends on type of inheritance.
