Horizant or mirapex (pramipexole) for restless leg syndrome - which is better?

Impossible to say: There are no head to head trials of the two drugs as far as i can find, and it is an off-label use of Gabapentin for rls. Actually, drug treatment for RLS is not very satisfactory, and neither of the approved drugs (mirapex (pramipexole) and requip) work in a majority of patients. Gabapentin is helpful in some, as is mirtazepine (remeron). Underlying iron deficiency may be present and should be tested for.

Depends: Good question. It depends if you have other medical issues, which you may respond better to, ; whether you have side effects to either. For example, if someone has neuropathy in addition to restless legs syndrome, Horizant may be a better option. In the end, it may just come down to personal choice and also, what your doctor is most comfortable with. Hope that helps!
