A member asked:

How can i wean myself off of 12.5 mg of metropol xl that i was prescribed for tachycardia (which has now stopped)?

Tachycardia: I am always concerned about stopping a medicine when it is controlling the problem for which it was prescribed. This usually means the medicine is working rather than the problem has gone away. Instead of weaning off this medicine make an appointment to discuss this with your doctor to see if you both agree this is the best thing tondo at this time.

Discuss with doc: Discuss this with your treating doctor. He/she will have to make the judgment whether tachy stopped due to being on metoprolol or spontaneously just resolved. That will determine whether you should even stop this medication. Hope this helps. Good luck.
