Naproxen sodium: The prostoglandin inhibitors are thought to provide a good starting point for dealing with menstrual pain. A common longer acting agent Naproxen is sold under many labels such as aleave. Taken at the first signs of menses and through completion, it may afford a bit of relief. For those with disabling pain, hormonal agents that block ovulation is a significant benefit.

Dysmenorrhea TC: I agree with Dr. Ferguson. NSAID’s, OTC meds containing diuretics, warm bath, heating pad, exercise & acupuncture are excellent for dysmenorrhea. Avoid caffeine, chocolate, alcohol & salt. Sipping Chamomile can dissipate pain.
