Will hygiene improve chances against contracting fungal infections on skin?

It can't hurt!: It certainly can't hurt. Common hygiene practices prevent infection and transference of many infections, fungal ones included. There are exceptions to the rule, however. For example, if one were to shower 4-5 times a day, and expose the skin/feet to frequent moisture, it might actually increase the change of a tinea pedis (athlete's foot) infection. That being said, good hygiene is always smart.

Yes : Preserving skin integrity by avoiding skin cuts , abrasions or sores can prevent most skin infections. Use of anti-microbial cleansers can also be helpful.
