Antibiotics: How about appropriate treatment with IV antibiotics and staying off the weed. I assume they did a lumbar puncture and the tests on the spinal fluid confirmed active lyme disease. If not, see an infectious disease specialist.

Lyme can be chronic if untreated but can other tickborne diseases like bartonella, babesia, anaplasma, brucella, rickettsia, tularemia be? Or are these always acute conditions? If someone has chronic ongoing infection symptoms could they be a cause?
