Cancer of the liver: Hepatocellular ca is cancer of the liver. It's more common in men than women, and in people over 50. Most common cause is cirrhosis (scarring) of the liver, due to alcohol abuse, hepatitis b or c, autoimmune disease, or other reasons. Hepatocellular ca is a primary cancer of the liver, as opposed to cancer that starts elsewhere (breast, lung, etc.) and spreads to the liver.
