W professional help: Cold-turkey withdrawal, in my experience, results in relapse over 90% (and some would say 100%) of the time. Treatment requires both the measures needed to physically combat the withdrawal, which is not trivial, and the psychological help to figure out how to handle the underlying emotional pain you were treating with the hydrocodone. Short-term Suboxone probably best way, with counseling.

Depends on how much: If you were only on hydrocodone for an acute source of pain that is now better, you may be able to taper and discontinue the med without a problem. Also depends on how much you were taking. Ask the md who prescribed it what the best way is to handle getting off pain meds. Nsaids and physical therapy may help depending on the problem. Good luck!
