It depends: On why you are taking them. Certainly, resistance to antibiotics is a big problem, and being on them for an extended period of time increases the likelihood of this happening, but your physician can advise you better about the situation.

What is it?: Agree with Dr. Hines. Resistance may occur or in some cases there can be side effects like overgrowth of yeast. However, without knowing what your condition is , or your specific antibiotic is - it would be hard to give you a specific response.
