Unclear: It's unclear what you're describing your doctor is recommending. Is it a hysteroscopy combined with a laparascopy? One procedure looks inside the uterus via the vagina, the other looks at the uterus with a camera via the abdomen. Both can be helpful when evaluating infertility causes and both are typically extremely safe in well-trained hands.
