Urethral sphincter : When one is postponing voiding the external sphincter skeletal muscle complex is activated. The external sphincter contraction resistance pressure has to be higher than the bladder contraction pressure to stay dry. The bladder pressure resolves when the bladder contraction is inhibited and the urgency to void subsides. The sensation you feel is from the over worked external sphincter.

Unclear but: It is possible that the weird feeling and tightness with possible pain while voiding represent a urinary tract infection. There is a saying: "stagnation favors infection" if no better soon, check with your family doc. A urinalysis is a very simple but informative test. If UTI is left untreated, it may cause kidney infection.
