Pimple or cold sore: A cold sore is caused by herpes simplex virus and occurs in the same location repeatedly. It is often painful and starts as a a blister before crusting over. A pimple is a sometimes tender red bump that occurs in various areas where the hair follicle becomes blocked with oil (sebum) and bacteria forms.
