Specializes in Podiatry

Outgrowing Flat Feet: There are stable flat feet and unstable flat feet in children. Podiatrists are very skilled at recognizing the difference. As the child walks, the heel valgus can be measured and by 5years old should be only 2-3 degrees off a vertical heel. See a podiatrist to check out where your child is. Good luck. Dr rich blake.

Arch develpoment: A kid is expected to have a noticeable arch by age 3 but that is only one component of the foot dynamic. How the heal leans, the kids genetics, all play into whether or not there is any symptoms. I find many do well until they put on their muscle mass in adolescence before any problems become evident.Followup with a kids podiatrist may help you understand the process.
