Recent onset of bph. pcp suggested flomax. a year ago dht measured 175 ng/dl. would avodart (dutasteride) be better?

Irrelevant : Your dihydrotestosterone level is irrelevant to the treatment of symptomatic bph. Conventional treatment of symptomatic BPH begins with the use of an Alpha blocker medication with the possible addition of a 5 Alpha reductase inhibitor such as Finasteride or Dutasteride later if symptoms persist.

Symptoms dictate: Flomax starts relieving symptoms within a few hours by relaxing the muscle tissue in the prostate.Avodart (dutasteride) works on the glandular portion and may take 3 to 6 months to give a difference in symptoms. You decide.Good luck.
