Insuffiency: Usually when you have swelling in your feet and legs when sitting it is due to a condition called venous insuffiency. The veins in the legs do not work well and retain fluid which should be circulated through out the body. This fluid is then retained in the skin. If left untreated it can lead to cellulitis (skin infection) and wounds.
