Infection: Pelvic inflammatory disease (pid) is an infectious process and the first line of treatment is with antibiotics, not surgery.

PID: If acute , antibiotics is treatment of choice. If abcess formation drainage is advised if peritonitis or severe abdominal pain surgery maybe option.
