Welts: What do you mean by welts? Are there raised itchy bumps that come and go over an hour or so? Then you probably have hives which is an allergic reaction. If you have raised painful bumps that stay for days it could be erythema nodosum which has a variety of causes such as infections and sarcoidosis.
