No: An echocardiogram cannot detect coronary artery changes which are the culprit lesions in angina. Angina is a diagnosis made by listening to the patient's history and then performing a treadmill stress test and/or a coronary angiogram to confirm the diagnosis. A person with angina can have a perfectly normal echocardiogram.
