Menorrhagia: If it happens once, not a big deal. If this is happening recurrently through your cycle, add a pad or go with super or super plus tampon and call your GYN for an appointment. Heavy bleeding and/or skipped menses are common in women in their 40's. Talk to your GYN about options to treat the heavy periods (menorrhagia)

Get MD help: See a GYN MD if this pattern of bleeding continues. If the bleeding exceeds 3 super tampons in 30 minutes, make a stop at your friendly E.R. as this is hemorrhage, not a period. There is a probable cause such as a fibroid or other pathology.
