Good for diabetics: Hi jens1, Stevia is a natural, herbal, zero-calorie sweetener. It does not have any carbohydrates or calories so it will not raise a diabetic patient's blood sugar and does not need to be included in the carbohydrate count of a meal. Stevia extract is derived from a small perennial shrub that has been used for centuries. A recent study on stevia in 2010 suggests benefit for diabetic patients.
