Difficult to treat: Hidradenitis suppurativa is a very difficult condition to treat. If you catch it early enough, there are many conservative measures that can be tried - meticulous attention to hygiene, topical and oral antibiotics, steroids, warm compresses.... When these fail, surgical excision to excise the abscesses or ultimately the entire affected area followed by skin grafting.
