Geodon (ziprasidone): and other medications and grapefruit compete for an enzyme in the liver, similar to a drug-drug interaction. This is why while taking geodon (ziprasidone) you should refrain from eating grapefruit. If the package insert suggests that you refrain from drinking grapefruit juice as well, it's in your best interests to follow those guidelines.

Luckily: you can still eat grapefruit even if you take geodon (ziprasidone). You are smart to ask - since grapefruit is a problem with a number of medications.
