Usually not: If the vision in one eye is normal, the lowered vision in the fellow eye will not impede academic achievement. There is little in academics that requires excellent vision in both eyes. The only areas affected would be those requiring stereoscopic vision. I have know doctors, lawyers, engineers and professors who have a lazy (amblyopic) eye.
