Thyroid: The thyroid is a butterfly shaped gland in the front of the neck. It produces hormone that is an important part of your metabolism. I'm not sure if you are talking about low thyroid function or hyperactive thyroid function. Both can occur. If you have hypothyroid, you can gain weight, feel cold, be tired, etc. If you have hyperthyroid, your pulse will be fast, you may lose weight, etc.
