Mental Status Exams: As i mentioned earlier, the basic domains of a person's mental state include: appearance, attitude, behavior, mood and affect, speech, thought process, thought content, perceptions, cognition, insight, and judgment. These vital signs of a person's mental status are typically assessed during a mental status evaluation. Other domains may also be assessed, and specific tests may be done when needed.
