It all depends on-: -what degree the tear is. 1=minimal 2=some fibers torn, bleeding & swelling and pain. 3=complete tear, & after evaluation if the boney attachment is avulsed, surgery is in order. 1=short recovery with rest ice activity modification. 2=up to 4-6 weeks, fibers need time to repair with scar. 3=3-6-10 months.
