ADHD treatment: ADHD is usually treated with stimulants like Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) or concerta. It depends on the age of the child and how they respond. If one medication doesn't work most will respond to another type of medication.

Other options: In addition to stimulants there are non-stimulant options such as strattera, (atomoxetine) Nuvigil or Provigil (latter two are unlabeled), however, per insurance companies you will likely need a prior authorization and indicate that the MD does not wish to put the patient on a habit forming stimulant.
