You can remove them: A water pick, a penlight, a mirror, and patience and dexterity are all that's required. If you use a half-unbent paper clip instead, be careful not to hurt yourself. They come back but you can get good at getting them out. Some ENT doctors can laser-surface your tonsils to prevent them.
