A member asked:

Can i take st.john wort as an over-the-counter?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

A diagnosis: is very important when considering St. John's wort. A person should not diagnose his or her own depression. Other issues such as anemia or hypothyroidism could have similar symptoms. Bipolar disorder could also present like depression, but starting an AD could lead to hypomania. See your health care provider. If depression is diagnosed , let your provider know that you would like to try SJW.
