A 31-year-old member asked:

can you tell me what is the youngest age to get cervical cancer at?

Twenties...: Many factors are important at determining if someone may experience cervical cancer. Nearly all cervix cancers are caused by hpv. The duration of infection and specific strain of virus are important. Nutrition and the immune status of the patient are also important. Smokers have a higher risk. I know of a 24 year old woman with invasive cervical cancer. If you are worried, get a pap test.

Primary or 2nd: Precautions? Primary precautions to avoid it or secondary after you have it? Cervical cancer is much less common due to pap smears and early detection as well as hpv testing. Hpv vaccines may greatly reduce or eliminate it in a few to several decades depending on vaccine use.

Depends: Early detection is curable and that's why pap smears are so important. The ability to spread depends on a number of features- is it poorly differentiated? What stage was it iwhen it was found? Has it gone to lymph nodes already? Sorry- wish i could be more helpful.

A 46-year-old member asked:

How long does it take cin111 to turn into cervical cancer?

1 doctor answer3 doctors weighed in
Dr. Natarajan Raman
Radiation Oncology 33 years experience
Months to years: Progression to invasive cancer occurs in approximately 1% of cin1, 5% in cin2 and at least 12% in cin3. Progression to cancer takes a time period of years. Also, evidence suggests that cancer can occur without first detectably progressing through these stages and that a high grade intraepithelial neoplasia can occur without first existing as a lower grade. Pap smears with your doctor saves lives.

A 29-year-old male asked:

What is the definition or description of: cervical cancer?

2 doctor answers2 doctors weighed in
Dr. Chad Levitt
Radiation Oncology 22 years experience
Unregulated growth: Cancer by definition is the growth in size and number in an unregulated manner of a cell line that has developed a mutation. The mutation is passed through the offspring which accumulate more and more mutations. The defining factor is that the cells act immortal as compared to normal cells that have a programmed lifespan. In the cervix this can occur in te cells that line the mucosal surface.
