Genetics/autism: Since we still are not sure what causes autism, adhd or many other neurobiologic problems, the answer to your question is difficult. We do know there is a genetic component, but as you have seen, you can have affected children and totally normal children. It is likely a combination of both genetic factors and environmental factors that lead to the disorders, but no prenatal tests yet.

Studies of younger: siblings of children with Autistic Spectrum Disorder found autism-specific changes on specialized MRI's of the brain at 6 months & later clinical symptoms of ASD in 1/5 siblings & some clinical symptoms in 1/3 vs.1/68 in the general population.
