My 20 yr-old daughter is in senegal and had traveler's diarrhea and stomach pain. she was prescribed cipro, but is now feeling almost better. should she take the cipro now that she's feeling better?

Traveler's Diarrhea: Cipro (ciprofloxacin), (ciprofloxacin) or any other antibiotic, is not for diarrhea. These are for infections caused by bacteria. Simple traveler's diarrhea is to be treated with good hydration and perhaps an anti-diarrhea medication. If the diarrhea causes fever, chills, or bloody stool then perhaps Cipro (ciprofloxacin) should be considered. If there are no symptoms of fever, or bloody stool then of course one should not take the antibiotic.

Yes: She should complete the prescribed course of therapy, even if she is feeling better sooner than that.
