what you are probably dealing with is inflammation
you should discuss this with pcp and prbably get referral to rheumatologist

may get some clues as to the underlying problems by looking at X-ray, but ultimately agree with Dr. Merriman that further testing by rheumatologist and possible biopsy would be necessary
