Last resort: Inguinodynia, also known as hernia post-operative chronic pain syndrome, occurs between 1-10% of hernia repairs. Most resolve within 1 yr, but more severely affected patients require injections with local anesthetics and corticosteroids to reduce or eradicate the neuropathy symptoms. A minority of neuropathy patients are a failure on medical therapy and therefore require surgical intervention.
