A member asked:

Is latent varicella-zoster virus more likely to reactivate if the person is re-exposed to the virus or does it only reactivate with stressing the body?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Hard to say: For most individuals re-exposure will only give an individual a chance to boost their immunity and thereby keep the inactivated virus in check. If their systems immunity has weakened enough to allow emergence, the stress of the exposure could let this happen. However, it is difficult if not impossible to link these by proper study.
