A member asked:

Is hypoglycemia a condition of it's own or only diabetes?

A doctor has provided 1 answer
Dr. James Chu answered

Usually related: Most common cause of hypoglycemia (low glucose) is related to taking rx (such as Insulin or sulfonylureas) used to treat diabetes. Spontaneous (not drug-related) hypoglycemia can be seen in some with abnormal glucose metabolism, such as pre-diabetes or Insulin resistance, which are precursors to diabetes. Other forms of hypoglycemia are less common, and can be related to various organ dysfunction.
