Colitis: Viral gastroenteritis usually clears by now but can leave behind an irritable bowel which is aggravated by harsh roughage in your diet. If the problem persists much longer or worsens, see your md who will arrange for culture of the stool sample to check for abnormal pathogens which may require treatment. In the meantime follow a low roughage diet for a short while.
