Mcs retention cyst: Many people have these and never know it as they are not generally painful. They are normally found on xray examination and generally do not require any treatment. In contrast to mucoceles that can cause bacterial infections and can erode bone in the sinus;these require removal. Be sure you have the terminology correct and the correct diagnosis. Sounds like mucocele see oral maxillofacial speclst.

Usually not: Mucous cysts called mucous retention phenomena (they aren't true cysts) usually don't cause a problem unless they are so large that they block the drainage from your sinus to your nose. Soreness of your palate needs to be evaluated by an oral ; maxillofacial surgeon to determine if there is a connection or something else going on. If you have a ct of your sinuses show it to the oral surgeon.
