Decaf: The caffeine in coffee may relax the sphincter at the bottom of the esophagus allowing stomach contents and acidity to reflux into the esophagus and also causes the stomach to release acid causing heartburn. Switch to decaf coffee and this shouldn't happen. See your md if your gerd problems don't improve.
