What's the difference between apoplexy, cerebral edema?

Bleeding/swelling: Apoplexy in the brain involves sudden bleeding into the cerebral or pituitary tissue. This can cause associated swelling which is called cerebral edema. The combination of bleeding and swelling can cause neurological deficits such as weakness, speech problems, coma or death.

Words: Apoplexy is unconsciousness resulting from a stroke or hemorrhage (bleed). Cerebral edema can result from many causes, including stroke or hemorrhage, trauma, high blood pressure, cancer, etc, and it does not always correlate with unconsciousness. Edema can also be focused in a single region.
