Pierced or clip on?: Consider not wearing earrings. Sometimes thin metal posts with very lightweight earrings (such as small stud) might be more comfortable.

Clip earrings: Cause pressure and squeezing of the ear causing pain. For pierced ears the weight of the earring, a sensitivity to the metal, or an infection, can cause pain. Try leaving the earrings out for a week and see if it improves, if not see your doctor.
