Be more specific: Have you had a continuous cold for 6 months plus a cold sore? If you have had an active HIV infection, you would be much sicker by now. Neither of these symptoms is specific for hiv. I suspect that your cold may be from an allergic condition and the cold sore is a separate condition many people get. It's time to consult your doctor.

HIV is Hard to get: Not without some specific risk. You did not provide anything in your question or personal history on which to give you any specific answer. But, having a cold sore (75% of americans have herpes type 1) and having a cold during the winter season are in no way any indication of HIV infection. If you have some history of exposure then please get an HIV test.
