A member asked:

Please tell me, could smoking cause higher blood sugar levels?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not aware of that: As far as i know, there is no association between smoking and diabetes. However, if an individual does have elevated sugars, this is a very strong predisposer to our number one killer in us - coronary artery disease. If you add elevated blood sugars together with smoking, there is even a greater risk of heart attack and other vascular problems, like stroke or vascular insufficiency in the legs.
