Fungal infection: Jock itch is fungal infection and usually responds to over the counter treatments. You can have sex, but it would be good to advise your partner as fungal infection can be transmitted during sex but since it is not a serious disease you need not abstain from sex.

Intertrigo-jock itch: Intertrigo (intertriginous dermatitis) is an inflammatory condition of skin folds, induced or aggravated by heat, moisture, maceration, friction, and lack of air circulation. Intertrigo frequently is worsened or colonized by infection, which most commonly is candidal but also may be bacterial, fungal, or viral. Intertrigo commonly affects the groin. If infected, you can transfer infection.

Varies: " jock itch" is not a medical term. Intertrigo, sebaceous dermatitis, monilia, tinea cruris are common. Any fungus on your feet? Are you overweight? Try otc Miconazole or Clotrimazole twice a day. Not hazardous or expensive. If not clear in 2 weeks, see a dermatologist. Sex probably not an important factor ; the azole cream will not harm your partner. Unprotected sex is appropriate if you are mono.
