Cervicogenic: Headache is any headache which is caused by the neck. The exact cause of this type of headache is still not clear and ct and MRI are normal in most cases. The diagnosis of this condition is challenging and confirmed through diagnostic anesthetic blockade. Pain usually resolved after treatment of the disorder causing the headache. Occipital neuritis: A 20's female with acute onset of tension muscle headache and a locus of pain at base of the skull might have tendonitis of the superior trapezius muscle where it inserts on the occiput of the skull. A common cause is often chronic muscle spasm due to chronic lateral head tilt.
