Symptoms not disease: Complex issue. Couldn't hurt, may help symptoms. No good evidence they affect underlying disease process. Lots of research into role of the microbiome (gut bacterial flora) on crohn's and ulcerative colitis.

I eat flour tortillas or country biscuits and my body flares up. I get flush, my heart rate kicks up and I have hemorrhoids that push out and spray blood during bowel movements. Doctor tests say no celiac disease or Crohns. What else could it be?
