A member asked:

What health risks r associated with isolated nicotine usage? as in not smoked or chewed, using dermal patches or other direct forms of consumption.

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Nicotine: Causes vasoconstriction and thus causes hypertension. The changes in the pressure in the arterioles can lead to atherosclerosis or deposition of cholesterol. This vasoconstriction can happen in many places including the lining of the stomach and can lead to ulcers. It is believed the metabolite of nicotine can correlate with the development of urinary bladder cancer.Still a risk for asthma.
